Once the alpacas are sheared, the prepared fleeces can be entered into the fleece classes at shows for appraisal by the judge, who will establish their quality.  In addition to their weight, they are judged on the criteria defined in the chapter “the wool” i.e. fineness, uniformity, crimp, etc…
